Ganesh Chaturthi 2026: Bangladesh cricket captain Litton Das welcomed Lord Ganesha into his home and shared a heartfelt message with fans. His beautiful festive post quickly caught attention on social media, with cricket fans showering love and respect on the star wicketkeeper-batter.

Cricket often brings people together beyond boundaries, teams and rivalries. Bangladesh captain Litton Das provided another beautiful example of that on Ganesh Chaturthi 2026.

As devotees across the world welcomed Ganpati Bappa, the Bangladesh star also celebrated the festival at home. Litton Das shared pictures from his Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations on social media, accompanied by a heartfelt message seeking blessings, happiness and positivity.

His post immediately attracted attention from cricket fans, particularly in India, where Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with enormous enthusiasm.

Litton Das shared a picture of Lord Ganesha at his home while marking the auspicious occasion with his family. The Bangladesh cricketer’s message was filled with devotion and gratitude.

“Welcoming Lord Ganesha into our home with love, devotion, and a grateful heart,” Das wrote, while praying for happiness, peace, prosperity and positivity for his family. He ended his message with the familiar festive greeting, “Ganpati Bappa Morya!”

The post struck a chord with fans because it was not about cricket or competition. Instead, it showed a more personal side of one of Bangladesh’s most recognisable cricketers.

Several fans responded warmly to the post, appreciating the gesture and the respect shown towards the festival.

Litton Das has previously shared glimpses of Hindu festivals on social media as well. His public celebrations of religious occasions have made him a familiar figure among fans who follow his life away from the cricket field.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 officially began on September 14, with devotees across India and elsewhere welcoming idols of Lord Ganesha into their homes and community pandals. The festival is celebrated as an occasion associated with wisdom, prosperity and the removal of obstacles.

From festive celebrations to a major leadership responsibility

The Ganesh Chaturthi post comes at an important stage of Litton Das’ cricket career.

The 31-year-old wicketkeeper-batter was officially appointed Bangladesh’s ODI captain in July 2026, replacing Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The Bangladesh Cricket Board made the decision with the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup firmly in mind.

This is not completely new territory for Litton.

He has already led Bangladesh in different situations, including the memorable three-match ODI series against India in December 2022. Litton was named captain after regular skipper Tamim Iqbal was ruled out through injury.

Bangladesh went on to win that series 2-1, defeating India in the first two matches before losing the third ODI. It remains one of the standout moments of Litton’s leadership career.

According to the ICC, Litton had three wins from seven previous ODI matches as captain before his permanent appointment in 2026.

His new role, however, carries much greater responsibility. Bangladesh are now building towards the 2027 World Cup, and Litton is expected to be one of the central figures in that project.

Litton Das has become a key figure for Bangladesh

Litton Das has been an important part of Bangladesh cricket for more than a decade.

He made his international debut in 2015 and quickly established himself as a technically gifted batter. Over time, he also became Bangladesh’s regular wicketkeeper across formats.

His ability to play both traditional and attacking cricket has made him particularly valuable to Bangladesh. He has produced several important innings for the national team, including a memorable ODI score of 176 against Zimbabwe.

As of the latest available career figures, Litton has played 56 Tests, 104 ODIs and 122 T20 internationals for Bangladesh. He has scored 3,356 Test runs, 2,869 ODI runs and 2,702 T20I runs.

His international record includes six Test centuries and five ODI centuries, while he has also registered 20 Test fifties, 14 ODI fifties and 16 T20I half-centuries.

His numbers underline just how experienced he has become. Bangladesh will now hope that experience translates into consistent performances and strong leadership in the ODI format.

Why Litton Das’ Ganesh Chaturthi post touched fans

For cricket supporters, moments like this can sometimes be more memorable than a scorecard.

Litton Das’ post showed the human side of an international cricketer who spends much of his life under the pressure of professional sport. Instead of sharing a cricketing achievement, he chose to share a personal celebration and a message of peace, happiness and prosperity.

That simplicity appears to be one reason the post received such a warm response.

It also highlighted something that cricket has demonstrated many times: sporting rivalries can exist on the field, while mutual respect continues away from it.

For Indian fans who passionately celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, seeing a Bangladesh cricket star participate in the festival naturally created a positive reaction online.

Litton has also previously been recognised as a Hindu cricketer who openly celebrates Hindu festivals. Reports have documented his participation in celebrations including Durga Puja and other religious occasions.

All eyes now turn to Bangladesh’s 2027 World Cup journey

While Ganesh Chaturthi provided Litton Das with a moment away from cricket, his biggest challenge is waiting on the field.

As Bangladesh’s new ODI captain, he has been handed the responsibility of leading the team towards the 2027 World Cup. The appointment represents an important phase of his career and could ultimately define his legacy as a leader.

His previous experience, including the 2022 series win over India, gives Bangladesh some reason for optimism. But captaining a team through a World Cup cycle is a completely different challenge.

For now, however, Litton Das is enjoying a moment of faith and family.

His message on Ganesh Chaturthi was simple: welcome Bappa with love, devotion and gratitude.

And judging by the reaction from fans, that message travelled far beyond Bangladesh.
