India vs Pakistan final is officially set to headline the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026, with the arch-rivals meeting for the gold medal on Saturday, October 3. India booked their place in the title clash with a dominant win over Sri Lanka, while Pakistan secured their final spot after beating Bangladesh in a rain-affected semi-final.

The much-awaited India vs Pakistan final will be played at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan. According to the official Asian Games schedule, the final is scheduled for 1:30 PM Japan Standard Time on Saturday, which is 10:00 AM IST.

For cricket fans, this is another major India-Pakistan meeting, but the occasion will be different. This time, the two sides will battle directly for an Asian Games gold medal.

India reach final after stunning Sri Lanka

India entered the semi-final against Sri Lanka as the defending Asian Games champions and produced a commanding performance.

After being asked to bat first, India posted 169/7 in 20 overs, with Ishan Kishan playing the defining innings of the match. Kishan remained unbeaten on 80 from 46 balls, producing four fours and five sixes. His innings came at an important stage after Sri Lanka’s spinners had put India under pressure in the middle overs.

Young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also provided India with valuable momentum, scoring 38 from 21 deliveries. His aggressive approach helped India reach a competitive total despite wickets falling regularly around him.

Kishan then took responsibility for the final overs and helped India finish strongly. His unbeaten 80 also gave him a new India record for the highest T20I score by an Indian batter batting at No. 5 or lower, surpassing Manish Pandey’s previous mark of 79*.

India’s bowlers then completely dismantled the Sri Lankan batting order.

Jasprit Bumrah made an immediate impact, while Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma also picked up two wickets each. Sri Lanka were eventually bowled out for just 45 in 9.5 overs, giving India a huge 124-run victory and a place in the gold-medal match.

The result also highlighted India’s depth. While Kishan supplied the runs, the bowling attack ensured Sri Lanka never came close to challenging the target.

Pakistan overcome Bangladesh in rain-hit semi-final

Pakistan’s route to the final was more complicated because of the weather.

Their semi-final against Bangladesh was reduced to 13 overs per side after rain affected conditions at Korogi Sports Park. Bangladesh managed 111/7, with Towhid Hridoy making a crucial 42 from 25 balls.

Pakistan’s chase initially faced some pressure, but Abdul Samad and Hasan Nawaz steadied the innings. Samad finished unbeaten on 30 from just 15 balls, while Nawaz remained not out on 27.

Pakistan reached 112/4 in 11.3 overs, winning the match by six wickets and securing their place in Saturday’s gold-medal contest.

The victory means the Asian Games men’s cricket competition will finish with one of the biggest rivalries in the sport.

India vs Pakistan final date, time and venue

The India vs Pakistan final will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Aichi, Japan.

The official Asian Games schedule lists the men’s final for 1:30 PM JST, which converts to 10:00 AM IST.

India and Pakistan were placed on opposite sides of the knockout draw, meaning they could only meet in a medal match. With both teams now through to the final, the highly anticipated clash has become a reality.

Gold medal adds another layer to the rivalry

India are the defending men’s Asian Games champions after winning gold in Hangzhou in 2023. The 2026 tournament therefore gives India an opportunity to defend their title.

Pakistan, meanwhile, will enter Saturday’s final knowing that the gold medal is now one win away.

The road to the final has also been unusual for both teams. Persistent rain affected the quarter-final stage, with India’s match against Afghanistan and Pakistan’s match against Hong Kong abandoned. Because India and Pakistan were seeded teams, both advanced to the semi-finals under the tournament’s playing conditions.

India then produced a comprehensive performance against Sri Lanka, while Pakistan had to navigate a shortened contest against Bangladesh.

That makes Saturday’s final particularly interesting because both teams have experienced very different match conditions during the knockout stage.

Ishan Kishan, Bumrah and Axar in focus for India

India’s biggest positives from the semi-final were the performances of Kishan and the bowling attack.

Kishan’s 80* demonstrated his ability to rebuild an innings before accelerating late. His record-breaking performance could give India another important batting option going into the final.

Bumrah’s presence also gives India considerable experience in a pressure match. Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma showed their value with the ball against Sri Lanka, while India’s spin options could again become important depending on the conditions.

The pitch and weather will therefore be worth watching closely. Rain has already affected several matches during the Asian Games cricket tournament, and conditions could play a role in the final as well.

Pakistan will look to continue their momentum

Pakistan’s semi-final victory showed their ability to adapt to difficult circumstances.

With the match reduced to 13 overs, Pakistan had little room for error. After restricting Bangladesh to 111/7, their middle order completed the chase with nine balls remaining. Samad’s unbeaten 30 from 15 balls was particularly important in a shortened game.

The final will provide a completely different challenge, however. India arrive after a huge semi-final victory and will have confidence from their bowling performance, while Pakistan will look to carry the momentum from their successful chase.

With a gold medal at stake, every over could become important.

The India vs Pakistan final is now the match cricket fans across the region will be watching. It is not simply another meeting between two familiar rivals; it is a direct contest for Asian Games gold.

Saturday’s showdown at Korogi Sports Park will decide who leaves the 2026 Asian Games with the men’s cricket gold medal.
