Team India’s jersey headache ahead of the Asian Games 2026 has finally been sorted out, bringing some relief just hours before the men’s squad is scheduled to leave for Japan. Kabaddi player Pawan Sehrawat replaced him in the role, according to Reuters.

India are scheduled to enter the men’s Asian Games cricket competition directly at the quarter-final stage. The men’s cricket tournament runs from September 24 to October 3, although India’s campaign begins on September 28.

That means the September 22 Japan T20I will effectively come just days before India’s first competitive Asian Games fixture.

Accommodation is another challenge in Japan

The jersey issue is not the only logistical challenge India has faced ahead of the Asian Games.

Reports have also highlighted accommodation arrangements for the Indian men’s cricket team. The BCCI has reportedly made separate hotel arrangements for the squad instead of relying entirely on the accommodation provided through the Games system.

The wider Asian Games operation has faced complaints and logistical difficulties involving accommodation, transportation and registration. Reuters reported that athletes and officials from several delegations encountered problems during the buildup to the Games.
